Motion and power
5 V 28BYJ-48 stepper motor
A cheap geared motor for slow, repeatable movements.
What it does
Four coil phases move the rotor in steps; a gearbox reduces speed and increases output torque. Backlash and small gear-ratio differences limit absolute accuracy.
Connections and compatibility
The 5-wire plug fits a matching ULN2003 board. Supply the motor’s rated voltage; 5 V and 12 V variants are not interchangeable.
Choosing one
Choose a clearly marked 5 V motor and matching driver for these exercises. Plan on slow movement, and measure the actual steps per revolution if calibration matters.
Common mistakes
Fast commands can make the motor buzz without turning. After lost steps or power loss, counted steps no longer establish absolute position.
