Boards and essentials

ESP32 development board

A low-cost controller with networking for standalone sensors.

What it does

The ESP32 family combines a microcontroller with wireless functions. A development board adds power regulation, a programming interface, and accessible pins.

Connections and compatibility

GPIO is 3.3 V logic. Follow the exact board’s power, pin, boot, and flash instructions; names such as ESP32, C3, and S3 denote different chips.

Choosing one

For a basic sensor choose a board with soldered headers, USB, and a published pinout. Confirm firmware support before buying.

Common mistakes

Do not copy Uno pin numbers or apply 5 V to GPIO. Camera interfaces and Bluetooth features differ among family members.
