38 kHz infrared receiver
Receive commands from a common infrared remote.
What it does
The receiver filters light modulated near its carrier frequency and presents pulse timing to the microcontroller. A decoder library interprets the protocol.
Connections and compatibility
Use a documented receiver or breakout with identified supply, ground, and output pins. Pin order varies even when packages look similar.
Choosing one
Choose a 38 kHz demodulating receiver matched to your remote. Check whether it accepts 5 V and whether the breakout already includes bypass components.
Common mistakes
Wire by the datasheet, not by a photograph or cable color. Sunlight and incompatible remote protocols can prevent decoding.
