Displays
MAX7219 8×8 matrix module
Show a compact status symbol or bar graph with few wires.
What it does
The driver scans an LED matrix and regulates current using its configured current-setting resistor. Your sketch updates a stored pattern.
Connections and compatibility
A standard 5 V module exposes VCC, GND, DIN, CS/LOAD, and CLK. DIN receives controller data; DOUT is for the next module.
Choosing one
Start with one module and low brightness. Check the module includes bypass capacitors and an appropriate current-setting resistor.
Common mistakes
A MAX7219 at 5 V does not guarantee recognition of 3.3 V logic. Larger displays need a separately sized supply; rotated wiring changes pixel orientation.
Use it in a tutorial
