Motion and power

SG90-style positional servo

Move a light pointer or mechanism to a commanded angle.

What it does

A motor, gearbox, position sensor, and controller share one housing. Repeated control pulses specify a target position within a limited travel range.

Connections and compatibility

Use a regulated supply matching the servo rating, a common ground, and a signal wire. The tutorials power a 5 V servo separately from the Uno USB supply.

Choosing one

A lightweight 180-degree positional servo is sufficient for an unloaded pointer. Confirm the supply voltage and leave room for its horn.

Common mistakes

Do not force the shaft or assume every servo safely reaches 0–180 degrees. Stall current can reset a board when both share an inadequate supply.

Use it in a tutorial

  • Servo motors — Move a lightweight pointer with two buttons while powering a micro servo independently of the controller.
